Mukesh Khanna pays tribute to his brother Satish Khanna, who recently passed away

Satish Khanna, the ex.President of the Indian Scout and Guide Fellowship, a scout from the age of 12 years and  elder brother of veteran TV and Bollywood actor Mukesh Khanna recovered from coronavirus recently. But a week later, Khanna passed away due to a heart attack. He had taken the first dose of vaccine and was 84 years old.



He was honoured with the  Silver Elephant, the highest insignia of honour, of the Bharat Scouts and Guides awarded at the hands of Honourable late President Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India. He received several accolades and recognition from Asia-Pacific  member countries of the International Fellowship. He was twice elected as its chairman.



Surendra Kumar Agarwal, ex.National Secretary said that Satish Khanna was instrumental in expanding the Indian Fellowship amongst adults  in various states and  railway zones  in the country. He played an important role in organising the 19th World Conference of the International organisation in 1999, which was attended by almost 500 members from  50 countries of the world.
 
Vishnu Agarwal, president of the Maharashtra State Fellowship said that Satish Khanna nurtured his home units, the Greater Mumbai and the Maharashtra State  Fellowships since 1960 and served in various community service projects including providing articles of utility to thousands of victims during natural calamities like Tsunami, Orissa super cyclone, Bhuj earthquake, Uttarakhand flash floods and the recent floods in Kerala.

Chanchala Mistry, the young president of the Greater Mumbai unit said, “We  have lost our mentor and supporter to carry out several projects in Mumbai to promote scouting and guiding.”

Mukesh Khanna said, “Though Satish bhai was 84 years old, he was an  ace tennis player and participated in various senior citizen tennis tournaments. Satish bhai brought me closer to the Fellowship and the Scout movement. I had the honour of being appointed the brand ambassador of the Indian Fellowship. I always felt that Shaktiman is a Scout.”

Satish Khanna was a student and scout from Marwadi Vidyalaya High School, a post graduate in textile technology from Manchester University and worked in the UK and USA  on various textile related research projects.
