In collaboration with Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares, Mukkti Foundation expands its mission to nurture underprivileged children by launching free workshops in dance, drama, and acting, alongside its ongoing mid-day meal drive.
Film producer and social worker Smita Thackeray, founder of Mukkti Foundation, has launched free “Art and Drama” workshops for children from slum areas, extending her mission of empowering underprivileged youth. The initiative, in collaboration with Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares, kicked off at Taraben Master School, Santacruz.
The workshops-covering dance, drama, and acting-are conducted by professional trainers to help students build confidence, communication skills, creativity, discipline, and leadership. School-based selection focuses on nurturing raw talent.
Smita Thackeray emphasized, “Every child deserves not just food, but also a platform to showcase their creativity… Whether it’s dance, music, singing, or acting-express it without fear. Build your confidence and present your art openly, even before thousands of people. That is the first step toward success.”
Highlighting the Foundation’s philosophy, she added, “Once hunger is removed, talent blossoms.” She further noted, “Through the Mukkti Cultural Hub, we aim to bring children from slum communities forward and even connect them with opportunities in films, theatre, and music videos.”
Alongside the “Aao Bhookh Mitayein” (Let’s End Hunger) food donation drive, this new cultural initiative reinforces Mukkti Foundation’s 26-year-long commitment to women’s safety, education, and healthcare, supported by celebrities such as Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, and Shraddha Kapoor.
